Dev & Prod environments
Hi Anil,
Morgan and I were discussing today the possibility of setting up another P3 environment so we can begin working as we do with ISLG.
We would then have a dev environment for you to work on and testing, with a pre-production environment for Morgan and team to work on content and other tasks.
Would we be able to do this without affecting performance of ISLG? Could we have the dev P3 environment on the ISLG dev server and pre-prod P3 on the ISLG prod server?
Thanks!
Ryan

We have synced development environment with the production environment. Please check once and let us know if anything.
Thanks,
Morgan
We can set up another P3 environment on ISLG server, assuming this P3 version will have limited resources (e.g. files, users etc). If yes then it will not create any performance issues with ISLG.
Morgan
Please do the needful to create another domain for P3 so that we can configure the same on server.
I've submitted a ticket with Carbon60 for this.
Thanks!
Ryan
Which IP should they point the A record to for the new subdomain? (I've asked for p3lg-dev.tologix.com)
www.p3lawguide.com or www.p3lg.com
dev.p3lawguide.com or dev.p3lg.com
Morgan
IP Address: 192.69.86.167
Do you own those domains? If so we can work getting those set up with the servers. If not you should be able to contact Carbon60 to have them register them for you.
Ryan
No, we don't. I'll contact Carbon60 to get those setup.
Morgan
p3lg-dev.tologix.com is now pointing to 192.69.86.167
Thanks!
Ryan
I've put in the request to Carbon60 on create the domain name: p3lawguide.com. I'll let you know when they confirm that everything is setup.
Morgan
Please let us know if we require to setup p3lg-dev.tologix.com or wait untill p3lawguide.com.
I still haven't received confirmation from Carbon60 that the p3lawguide.com has been created. I'll let you know when that occurs.
Morgan
It shouldn't take them much time to register the domain and get it set up so I think we'd be fine to wait.
Ryan
This will not take much time. We will configure both together.
Morgan
It appears the new domain for p3lawguide.com is setup. However, could you confirm what URLs I should be using for the prototype now? Note that we are the middle of adding content to the system, and I want to ensure I'm doing this is the correct place.
Also, do we have any restrictions setup on accessing the site? For example, I noticed that the front-end doesn't prompt the users for a username/password, and we need to ensure this is only accessed by approved users.
Thanks,
Morgan
p3lg.tologix.com and p3lawguide.com are both pointed to the same database so you can use either of them for the prototype.
There are no restrictions. Anybody can access public site. Please let me know if we require to put restrictions.
Morgan
We will develop a login screen for front site and will let you know once done.
We have a question regarding login system:
Do we require to develop an interface to create front users from admin section or few static users would be fine which we can add manually in the SQL database directly without any interface?
I wasn't suggesting developing a login screen yet. That requires a full UX design process. My suggestion was to make the pages inaccessible to users until they enter login credentials similar to dev.islg until we develop a marketing site.
Morgan
I think what would be best is to apply a global htaccess username and password to prevent the general public or bots from accessing the new sites. Could you please set this up for both prod & dev P3 applications? I suggest:
u: p3lg
p: p3lgdev2018
Also, do you need me to contact Carbon60 to set up the subdomain http://dev.p3lawguide.com/? If so, please confirm which IP I should ask them to point dev to.
Thanks!
Ryan
We have setup basic authentication for http://www.p3lawguide.com. Credentials are as follows:
User : p3lg
Password : P3@#123
Please note that server cannot accept "p3lgdev2018" as password because it violates the password policy.
Hello
Yes for dev.prlawguide.com we need to contact Carbon60. The IP address is : 192.69.86.167
Thanks for this. I've confirmed the auth for www.p3lawguide.com however it looks like I can still access without at http://p3lg.tologix.com/.
I'll contact Carbon60 for the DNS update as well.
Thanks!
Ryan
We have applied authentication on p3lawguide only please let us know if you need this on p3lg as well.
Thanks!
We have done this for p3lg. Please check and confirm.
Morgan
The dev.p3lawguide.com subdomain is now set up.
Thanks!
Ryan
