TOLOGIX - Infrastructure LawGuide (ILG)

Stakeholder interviews

Hi Morgan,

My name is Tina and I am the UX researcher at Industrial.  I will be working with you on the P3 prototype to flush out requirements and create the wireframes.

In our initial requirements document we have identified the primary user groups.  I would like to dig a little deeper into the process and requirements for each of these work-flows.   Within Basecamp I have attached a Google document called "Tologix P3 - User Group Requirements".  This document has a list of follow-up questions for each user group.

Would it be possible to meet with a representative from each group to work through these questions and get a better understanding of their workflow?  Alternatively you can answer some of the questions and let me know which may require further discussion.

You should have editing capability for the document.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
Tina

Hi Tina,

I've taken a quick look through the document, and we can definitely setup meetings with representatives from each group. Here is an initial list of people I think we should involve in each group:

Document Specialists:
  • Morgan Maguire (CEO): I've been involved in all aspects of developing the protocols for document management within ISLG, and I will be doing the same for P3.
  • Irit Weinfeld (ISLG Document Manager): Irit is responsible for managing all documents within ISLG, and can give you detailed insight into her workflow. Coincidentally, she will be going on maternity leave this summer (due August 22nd), and she has prepared a memo with detailed videos outlining her responsibilities within ISLG to help train her replacement while she's on leave. Her experience will provide insight into the processes we'll need to apply within P3.
Subject Matter Experts:
  • Morgan Maguire: I am working with the subject matter experts to develop the document collection for P3, and have detailed insight into how to integrate the documents into the application. Note that I am working with DevIT on methods for automating the process of converting PDF documents into HTML format.
  • Paul Moon (ISLG Director of Legal Content): Paul is responsible for managing all content within ISLG, including collecting content, assigning tasks to subject matter experts/data capture analysts and performing data capture analysis. He has detailed knowledge of the ISLG data capture process, which will be useful in the context of P3. Also, the plan is for Paul to be responsible for content within P3.
  • Greg Tereposky (Tologix Founder/Director and Lawyer): Greg is one of the founders of Tologix and oversaw the development of the software platform that is used by ISLG and TradeLawGuide (TLG is a WTO law product owned and operated independently by Greg). Greg is also a full-time practicing lawyer specializing in WTO law. Greg has intimate knowledge in both platform development, content process management and product end-use.
  • Doug Buchanan (Tologix Director and Lawyer): Doug is a Tologix Director and Co-Head of the Global Infrastructure and Project Finance Group at Debevoise & Plimpton (a prominent NYC law firm). Doug has limited technical knowledge of product development, but knows all things P3. He will be able to give intimate knowledge what will be required of the document collection and how to develop the taxonomy.
  • Kasim Salim (BLG Partner): Kasim is a partner in BLG's Ottawa office with a focus on P3. He is not currently involved with Tologix, but he has expressed an interest in becoming one of our subject matter experts for the P3 product. He will be able to give you insight into how the admin site needs to developed from the subject matter expert's perspective.
Researchers:
  • Morgan Maguire: I am actively engaged with training and soliciting feedback from ISLG's users, and have insight into how the product needs to be developed to fulfill users' expectations.
  • Greg Tereposky: Greg is actively engaged with training and soliciting feedback from TLG's users. He also uses online products on daily basis for his very active practice.
  • Doug Buchanan: Doug will be able to give broad understand of what types of information need to be gathered from a researcher's perspective; however he does not actively use online products (delegates to junior lawyers). Doug can make arrangements to connect you with other lawyers who would be using the P3 product regularly.
  • Kasim Salim: Kasim will probably be an active user of the P3 product when it is developed, and will give you insight into what the product needs to deliver to meet/exceed user expectations.
Let me know how you want to proceed, and we can start setting meetings up next week.

Thanks,

Morgan

This is great, thank you Morgan.  I will coordinate with Sarah to get these meetings scheduled and to create an agenda for each.  I find these conversations are most productive with 2-3 people but I'll leave that up to your discretion.

In the meantime please feel free to share my document with the relevant stakeholders.  Here is a shareable link:

It would be good if they have a sense of the questions ahead of time and we can use this to steer the conversation.  Also If anyone would like to send me insights or resources ahead of time that is great too.  My email is crichardson@industrialagency.ca

Sounds great Tina. I’ll email everyone and provide them with the link to the document (cc’ing you). I’ll also ask whether they know anyone that might be provide additional insight, particular for the Researcher group.

Also, I agree with making these brainstorming sessions.

Thanks and happy Canada Day!
