Client Testimonials and Logos

Hi Tiffany, Quietly Media Tiffany ,

Further to our previous discussions and what is outlined in the content layouts, I believe it was suggested at some point that we obtain headshots from clients that have given us testimonials. Do you still recommend that we obtain these? Megan Goodacre, Industrial Megan and Melissa Cowell, General Manager at Industrial Melissa is this getting contemplated for the homepage design? If so, could you give us some guidance on the format of these headshots? Would it be ok to use headshots they provide (note: Monica may be able to photoshop them to match our About Us headshots)?

Also, we're are working on getting consent from clients on using their logos on our homepage. We're going to start with our more prominent clients and work out way down the list. If we're not satisfied with the caliber of organizations providing us with consent, we may need to ditch this idea.

Thanks,

Morgan

Hi Morgan,

Thanks for checking in about this.

Re: Testimonials
We took a look at the strategy and content layouts and couldn't find recommendations around including headshots for endorsers who are giving ISLG testimonials or pull quotes. If you are keen to do this, that is fine. However, our thought is that you do not need headshots of clients for your industry. Rather, their logo would drive more value  and credibility if displayed next to their name and title and quote.

Re: Client logos
Great to hear you are trying to implement this content recommendation! We recommend to obtain at least 3 client logos. To help 'sell though' to get your clients' 'consent' of use on your website, you can also tell them the logo can click back to their website if they'd like. We find pitching it as a 'promotional' value add is something most brands/companies are keen on - free advertising!

Hope this helps and let us know if you have any other questions.

Cheers,
Tiffany

Hi Tiffany, Quietly Media Tiffany ,

Thanks for the reply. I had a call with Industrial this morning to give me a preview of the wireframes they've been working on, and they included the headshots for the testimonials. I liked the look of it, so we'll see if we can get these from the testimonial authors.

On client logos, we'll do our best to get the logos, but it's important to understand that these requests are made independent of the client testimonials, because this requires consent from the organization as a whole, rather than the individual. For example, one of our testimonials is from the Director of Berkeley Law Library. Although she is big supporter, and is willing to provide her personal endorsement of ISLG, getting consent to use Berkeley's logo would require getting consent from the University's administration, which I'm not optimistic will happen. Therefore, keeping the logos separate from the testimonials is probably a good idea (as currently outlined on page 4 of the outline - and reflected in the draft versions of the wireframes).

Assuming getting the logos is unsuccessful, what do you think about the idea of listing figures on the number of subscribers we have instead of the logos? For example, I may have mentioned before that Global Arbitration Review issues its GAR 30 list each year, and all these firms are currently ISLG subscribers.

The current version of the wireframes has omitted the webinar signup function (which Industrial will fix during subsequent drafts), but it prompted the questions of whether we should change the title of this page from "News & Event" to something else, given that the primary focus is to provide users with updates on the latest content and tools for learning more about ISLG (i.e., the ability to signup for webinars). Please share your thoughts.

On the product page, Industrial has created two versions. One outlines all the product features on one page. The other provides a horizontal bar listing the different features, and then the user can select each one to get more details below the horizontal bar. The content layouts don't specify which version would be appropriate. Given the brevity of the product descriptions in the copy drafts, I'm assuming we'll adopt the former, but could you please clarify.

Finally, to clarify the timeline, here are next steps:

  1. Quietly will finalize and share the copy
  2. Industrial will update and share the wireframes
  3. Everyone will meet to discuss the updated wireframes

Please confirm that this works for you, and we'll proceed from there.

Thanks,

Morgan

Good morning, Morgan.

Thanks for the clarity around your process regarding logos/testimonials.

If you're unable to serve any client logos on your site, we like the idea of featuring some 'stats' like you mentioned to showcase how many clients you have etc. The copy can also include things like listing some top clients via text format.

Re: News & Events. We took another look at the copy and suggest "Resources & Events" instead. "Resources" speak to both webinars, the Database and the updates of additions to the Database.

Re: Product page. This is a combination of content + interaction design at work. It would be great to see the copy laid out in both designs/wires that Industrial has created before making a decision on which one is an optimal experience for the end user. (As with this whole process, we like to see all the copy in the designs so we can refine content where necessary before copy is 'final'.)

Lastly, next steps look fine with us, but we recommend that as soon as the first content sprint is approved by you and the team (i.e. first 4 pages), that they be shared with Industrial so they can start dropping in the copy and refining the design asap.

Cheers!

Thanks Tiffany.

OK. We'll do with the stats if the logo doesn't work. Listing things in text will create the same issue as the logos. Note that our subscription agreements protect the identity of our clients. Therefore, we need them to waive these conditions in order to publicly disclose information about the client, including their name in text.

Great. I like the title "Resources & Events". Let's go with that.

Sounds good. Industrial will incorporate both layouts into the wireframes, and we'll refine things further afterwards.

Sounds good to me. I'll follow up with my team and ensure they provide their feedback asap.

Hello all,

We started to put our requests for logos and testimonial headshots yesterday, and we got our first logo this morning. They provided it to us in .ai, .eps and .emf formats (see attached). However, what formats would you prefer?

Thanks,

Morgan

Hi Morgan,
.ai or .eps are ideal.
