Comments & Events

Savannah Mitchell, Project Manager at Industrial
Hi Everyone,

Here are the summary notes from today's meeting. Feel free to correct me or add anything I missed. Jen R, Tologix Jen , hopefully this will help you when creating the synopsis of the solution we are providing.

Tologix New Product - Kick-off Meeting

Attendees:

  • Industrial Team
Rod Zylstra (President), Mel Cowell (UX/Creative Lead), Guillaume Morin-Simard (UX Researcher), Mitch Doyle (Tech lead), Stephen Ceresia & Savannah Mitchell (Project Management team)
  • Morgan (Tologix CEO)
  • Jen Raoul (Senior Counsel & Visionary of new project)
  • Kim (Law clerk/Paralegal, manages day to day)

  • Not in attendance: Nadine (Consultant)

Introduction to Project (Jen)

  • Tracking patents on drugs is an arduous process with several phases and involves many key groups working with information that is scattered across multiple sources (spreadsheets, IP asset management systems)
  • Often, events like patent exclusivity running out will trigger time sensitive events that these key groups (legal, regulatory, and IP) need to be aware of
  • Currently, these groups can get very siloed and often don’t sit in the same country.
  • They are mostly using spreadsheets and having quarterly meetings in order to keep track of where the drug is in the patent process, where it is being filed for approval, and how the regulations in the country affect their distribution/marketing strategy.
  • This product will act as a centralized hub that houses every drug’s patent information. Users of the product would see:
    • Patents available
    • Where they are in market position
    • Regulatory exclusivity they’ve been granted
    • When patents lose exclusivity in each country
    • Where they are in approval phase in each country
    • Pricing problems for each country
    • Other IP & regulatory information

  • Drug companies and external counsel will input their data
  • Regulatory groups would be able to enter their plans in terms of what stage a patent is at
  • The product would manage regulatory data, while IP data component would come from external sources and/or user input
  • Would need to be shareable with each country’s advising counsel
  • Users would receive notifications when events happen so they can strategize accordingly
    • There are many dependencies throughout the process that should trigger action from one or several other parties
    • Actions are time sensitive and parties need to be aware of each other and critical milestones
  • Novardis has developed a related system in house that tracks parts of the data throughout the process

Goals

  • Create a plan for how we could approach the initial research and design phases
  • Determine viability
  • Establish MVP

Q+A

  • What type of data do we need?
  • Where does that data live?
  • Can we access this data from other applications?

Next Steps

  • Jen R, Tologix Jen : Send over patent process document, synopsis of solution we are providing/what we are trying to achieve
  • Melissa Cowell, General Manager at Industrial Melissa : Send Jen list of the types of questions we will ask in discovery session
  • Discovery Session (approx. 2 weeks from now):
    - Determine who is this for, what problem will we be solving
    - Develop personas
    - Patent Process
    - Map out workflow

Hi Savannah

It was great to meet you yesterday!

When I accepted the Basecamp invite, I followed the link to set up my profile based on my google (gmail) account. However, I should have used jraoul@raoulindustries.com. Is there a way for me to change that now to ensure notifications go to my business address? Or can you remove me from Basecamp and then invite me again?

Thanks!
Jen
