Analysis Tagging Question
Hi
Morgan
On our weekly call with DevIT this morning we discussed an issue with document analysis re: the required state for documents to be available for reference within a research tool.
Can you confirm that when conducting analysis, only documents/entities that are published or active should be available to reference? This means, for example, if a new dispute document has been uploaded but is in 'Editing in Progress' it will not be available to reference when conducting analysis for the Jurisprudence Citatot on a separate document.
This is my recommendation but wanted to confirm before updating the relevant cards. (They currently pull ALL documents regardless of state).

Yes, that's my understanding of the requirements as well. Analysis is only possible when the document clears 'Editing in Progress' and is in the 'Analysis' state. Having said that, what happens when an issue is discovered with a document mid-analysis, and edits need to be made to a document. Will the admin user need to change the state back to 'Editing in Progress'? And if they do, would they lose the analysis they have already done?
Thanks,
Morgan
I think we are talking about two different things. To clarify:
Scenario:
Analysis is being conducted on DD01. This document makes reference to paragraph 2 of document DD02. As a user I select the text in DD01 citing DD02, and choose 'Jurisprudence Citator' to add my reference. I search for DD02 in the 'Cited Document UIN' field.
Can you confirm that DD02 should only appear as an option in the searchable dropdown if it is Published/Active?
---
In response to your question above, I will confirm with DevIT as we were discussing the ability to reassign tasks this morning. It is my understanding that any analysis previously conducted would be maintained, however I can foresee an issue if there are significant changes to the text structure.
Mel
Ok. Makes sense. Yes, DD02 would only appear as a option for citing in DD01 when it is Published/Active.
Ok. Sounds good. Yes, that's why I asked the question. I'm wondering if we deal with potential technical issues by implementing a protocol for 'orphaned' analysis caused by changes in text structure. This could also be used as a way of dealing with inevitable issues that will result from the migration of analysis data between the old and new applications. Perhaps we could discuss during the call at the top of the hour?
Thanks,
Morgan
