TOLOGIX - ISLG App Rebuild

Archived user accounts

Hi Morgan Maguire, CEO Morgan

I would like to write some more detailed requirements around archiving a user but need you input. What is your ideal scenario for an archived user?

  • Would you like archived users to be removed from the users table?
  • Should only specific admins be able to view/edit/delete/reactivate these users?
  • We discussed that only archived users can be deleted, this will also delete historical data, correct?
  • To re-activate an archived user, we should require them to follow the account creation process similar to new users - do you agree?
Thanks,
Mel

Hi Melissa Cowell, General Manager at Industrial Melissa ,

Here is my feedback to each question:
  • Would you like archived users to be removed from the users table?
    • Yes, archived users should appear in a separate table from non-archived users.
  • Should only specific admins be able to view/edit/delete/reactivate these users?
    • Yes, just in case, let's create an additional admin privilege that allows the admin user archive/restore accounts and have access to the archived user table.
  • We discussed that only archived users can be deleted, this will also delete historical data, correct?
    • Yes, if a user is deleted from the archived user table, it should permanently delete all data associated with that account.
  • To re-activate an archived user, we should require them to follow the account creation process similar to new users - do you agree?
    • My thinking is that when an archived account is restored to the non-archived user table, it will be automatically assigned non-active status, and then the admin user can decide whether to change the status directly to active status (i.e., maintain the existing username and password), or force the user to create a new username and password by changing the status to pending.
Thanks,

Morgan
