Proposed Modification to Individual login for Auto-IP group users
Hi
Morgan
,
In the process of writing criteria to link the marketing site CMS pages to the un-gated application pages we noticed that the "Login to notepad" link may need to be revised slightly to fit new features of the beta version. Now that document comparison is a feature, individual users who are part of a group will have access to this feature as well making the current label not as accurate. Additionally, as we need to allow group managers who are part of auto-IP groups to log in to access their permissions we can likely leverage one login link for both these purposes.
The proposal is to change the link label in the marketing site, and move it to the footer menu where we have space to add some text explaining what that link is for. If users select this, they will still be brought to the post login screen where they can choose which version of the application they would like to access. Additionally, we propose adding this same link in the "My account" menu of the beta version for users who logged in automatically through their IP but would like to switch to their individual account to access the features.
Options for the link label that we propose are:

Options for the link label that we propose are:
- Login to personal account from organization
- Login as individual from an organization
- Login manually
Help text would read: Part of an organization with automatic login? Select the option below to login as an individual and access the Research Notepad, Document Comparison and other account features.
Please confirm this approach will work for you, and we can proceed with making the relevant changes to criteria and the templates.

All sounds good above; however, it would be good to see a mock-up to see how this link will be integrated into the page.
I like the "Login to personal account" (I'm suggesting a label without the "from organization" part).
For the help text, a slight modification:
Part of an organization with automatic login? Select the option below to login to your personal account and access the Research Notepad, Document Comparison, Notifications and other personalized features.

Thank you for the revised copy. Please see the mockups for the modified main navigation and footer menu here: https://invis.io/J8YDIFCZBFM#/428089225_Home

Now that I've seen this in the mock-up, I don't agree with the putting this in the footer. This will get missed by users. What if we made the Login button a dropdown of sorts with details on each login option, and then the user could select the option that applies to their circumstances?
Thanks,
Morgan
Understood. We can leave this option in the footer and add the same option within the main navigation as well. Please see this revised wireframe for your thoughts on this approach: https://invis.io/JHXSFMXARB7#/442010464_Homepage_-_Modified_Footer_V2. As there are only two login options having a slide-out menu could be a good way to display these options while conserving space. See proposed interaction here:
Looks great.
Thanks,
Morgan
We had some discussion internally around the naming of the login options and displaying of the descriptive text. We thought since users will likely only need to see the descriptive text once before they know which option to select, it may be best to keep it as visible in a tooltip when hovered over, and not always visible. Additionally, we thought "Auto-login Override" might be more descriptive as a label and easier to immediately understand what it does as opposed to "Login to Personal Account".
Patrick has created a mockup showing the interaction, so please review and see if this will work and I will write up the criteria for this. https://projects.invisionapp.com/prototype/ISLG-Login-Interaction-v2-ckjyol8fk000td401djzdql5j/play/e6658c20
That sounds good to me. However, I think we should have the on-hover tooltip for both login options. Also, I changed the labels and descriptions to the following:

I think the existing and proposed functionality may not fit the above labels you are suggesting, and it is probably preferable to maintain the behaviour these users are already used to. The idea is to replace the current label of the "Login to notepad" for IP access users needing a place to login as individuals. Non IP users, and IP users who are logging in as a group would both access the standard login as per the current application. Therefore we thought "Standard login" or "Login" would make the most sense for those two types of users who would access it, and for the secondary login something that specifies that it is for IP users who want to access individual account features such as "auto-login override" would help.
We could definitely change those labels if you feel they aren't describing the functionality in the best way, however I think it should match the existing functionality of those two login options for consistency sake.
Thanks,
Naomi
Can we have a quick in about 20 minutes to clear this up?

Our developer is making the discussed changes to the templates. I have also written criteria for this and asked
