User Consultation Sessions
Hi
Megan
and
Stephen
,
Now that we have the user survey data and the user profiles, what are the next steps in the research process? We can start reaching out to users, and setting up observation sessions, but I wanted to get your take on what types of users you'd like to meet with. Let me know, and we'll start setting up the meetings.
Also, were you able to connect with Chris Thomas to setup a meeting? If not, I suggest following up with dates where you're available at 6:00pm Ottawa time (7:00am Singapore time), because this is usually the time slot when he's available. Sometimes it can take a few emails to pin him down.
Perhaps we should schedule a call early next week to discuss. I am currently available on Monday.
Thanks,
Morgan

Ideally, we'd have a session for each distinct user type (junior lawyer, research specialist, etc).
But it sounded like, in our last call, that you don't generally have direct contact with the end users themselves, so recruiting them might not be possible.
So simplicity is probably best: the best users to recruit are the ones who are willing and available, and if you can, users with a diversity of perspectives. As to how many, aim for a minimum of 2 hours total. Eg, 4 sessions x 30 minutes, 2 sessions x 1 hour. You will be the better judge of what makes sense here. Can a user show us how they use the tool in 15 minutes? an hour?
From the user's point of view, these are relaxed, conversational sessions. Industrial will ask a few questions during the session but they are not formal interviews. The user literally will show, over screen share, tasks that they perform in the ISLG app.
Thanks

I'll reach out to Chris again and try to set something up.
Thanks,
Stephen
Looks like we've lined up a user consultation session with one of our clients, Freshfields in New York. We're still figuring out their availability, but could you let me know what dates and times you're generally available February 6-16? Once we have a date and time confirmed, I'll connect you with them directly.
Note that Freshfields is our #1 user in terms of usage, so they should be able to give us a lot of good insight in how to improve the platform.
Thanks,
Morgan
The following times look ok from our end:
Feb 8th, 9th: 1pm - 4pm EST
Feb 12th-14th: 1pm - 4pm EST
Feb 15th-16th: 10am - 12pm, 1pm - 4pm EST
Thanks,
Stephen
