Thank you, Harsh Parikh, Tech Lead at DevIT Harsh . I've confirmed the original fix on www.islg, however, i noticed that whenever there is a modal behind the notepad window I'm unable to click into the text fields to create a title and description for a new research topic. See screenshot from Chrome. I've also reproduced this in Firefox.

The original requirements for this to-do are resolved on www.islg. However, as Ryan has pointed out, the user is unable to insert text into the topic name and description fields to save topic when there is a model window behind the Research Details window.
