Create Special Search Term field within Tag Directory

Notes
Further to the video below, we want to create a feature within the tag directory that allows admin users and subscriber users to perform searches for keywords within the tag directory that will include hits for terms entered into a Special Search Term field. A logical way to do that would be to use the Tag meta fields; however, there are two issues that need to be resolved:
  • The tag directory search on the admin site does not include results for the applicable tag branch when the term within the Special Search Term is searched. This indicates that the tag meta fields are not integrated into the searches, which would need to change to serve this purpose.
  • There is no way to create multiple Special Search Terms for a tag. This could be resolved by adding the field options available in other meta fields for tag meta fields, like the "Ability to add another" option.

One couple question re: this:
  • On the subscriber side, would you expect the special search terms to be exposed or would this simply be a hidden field indexed in the search so that the appropriate results are presented?

I believe this should be a field added to tags rather than a managed meta-field. In my mind, this would be a simple text field that you can add as many relevant terms as makes sense for the result to be found in keyword search.
Also a note:
  • I don't think indexing tag meta-fields in the keyword search will make sense for subscribers as we are using this for advanced search filters — However, let me know if you feel this would be valuable for admins.

Hi Melissa Cowell, General Manager at Industrial Melissa ,

No, I don't think the special search term needs to be exposed. Just the relevant result would be displayed (similar to how the fields function in ISLG).

Ok. setting it up as a text field within the tag options, rather than through managed meta-fields works for me. Also, excluding meta-fields from the keyword search is fine as well. To be frank, I'm still a little shaky on how we're going to get much utility out of the meta-fields at this point.

In response to your comment above, the meta-field information is primarily surfaced on the subscriber side search filters as shown here:

Great. Thanks Melissa Cowell, General Manager at Industrial Melissa . I'll move this to-do to  ILG Testing Feedback - Fix Now - TOLOGIX - Infrastructure LawGuide (ILG) for Tologix.

Re meta-fields, could we discuss this during our call on Monday, I'm still confused on how the meta-fields get integrated into the filter rules. For example, currently we have the following meta-field created:
Does this mean we would be able to create a rule that isolates tags  to where "Risk allocated to private party(ies)" is set as "Yes" or "No, or would it isolate topics  to where "Risk allocated to private party(ies)" is a meta field associated with the topic?

Thanks,

Morgan
